Slow and Steady

All the do it yourself shows have told me that you can't remodel your kitchen a little at a time but seriously, who has thousands (sometimes tens of thousands) of dollars just hanging around so you don't have to go into debt and do it all at once? Not me. That's why I'm telling those tv shows to shove it and doing it bit by bit.

This weekend we started with the paint because we had a few extra surprise dollars come in. I'm asking for paint for Valentine's Day so I can do the cupboards, and then maybe after saving for a few months I can get my new sink and then finally new countertops. We'll see how it goes.

But until then, this is our before and afters...

For the record, I'm very aware of the touch-ups that need to be made...remember I said this was bit by bit :)

Way to go. I have the same type of stripe in my kitchen. I was supposed to put up a wall paper border. That was before Tom (he's 2.5 now. I like the color it looks good.

My favorite part is the algebra on the dry erase board in the first picture.

Looks fantastic! I have so much house stuff for Mike to do!!! Ahhhhh!! I have no baseboards and unpainted doors for over a year now. Also, only one of the doors have an actual door knob on it. Our house will forever be an unfinished project. I love your kitchen and the colors your chose.

You have inspired me. My kitchen is in desperate need of some fixin' up. I like the smaller steps! You're totally right-why not break it up into doable pieces? I have been waiting to "do it all at once" for quite awhile now. When have THEY ever been right about anything anyway? Paint is a great starting point because it is high-impact and inexpensive...I think I'll go get some. I love the before/after idea.
