One O'clock Church

Church in the late afternoon sucks if you don't have children who know how to sleep past 6:30 in the morning. It also sucks if you're a dog being watched by the Harper family for three weeks and a three year old girl desperately wants a playmate.

Reality Check

So this morning after I complained to Rick about having less than a week left to figure stuff out for Girls Camp (I was called to be the leader about two weeks ago), plus trying to get stuff ready for the Relief Society activity I'm in charge of tomorrow, plus dealing with too much laundry, a messy house, kids that aren't entertained, ghosts from the past coming back to haunt me, and so much more, I read my friend's blog this morning and found this...

Yup. Just what I needed.

This and That

Since we went to SAN DIEGO in March and bought a NEW COUCH last month, summer is pretty much Nick Jr for Tania and xbox 360 for Aren.  I haven't heard them complain much but every once in a while I'll take pictures of stuff we've done so that when they're in therapy as adults and complain about the wretched summer of 2010 I can pull these up and say, "What do you mean we didn't do anything!  That summer we...

Hung out with my old Branch President from my mission in Bulgaria (and chicho Egnew),

played in the ghetto pool,

played with cousins,

and hiked to the top of our favorite mountain without falling off the cliff or being killed by border crossers."

Seriously, how much more can a kid ask for? I guess they'll have a way better time when I'm off at girls camp for a week and dad works from home and they all get to hang out in their underwear all day long. No pictures of that forthcoming...I don't want you all getting jealous of my Ricky.

Sausage Irony

My sister is a vegetarian.  I know...WHY?!  But she is, which makes it the best thing ever that she makes the most adorable sausage kids.  Don't believe me?  Check out these sausage fingers from my nephew, Thomas, when he was around one year old - http://myveryownlifetimemovie.blogspot.com/2009/04/springtime.html

Fast forward to this year when nephew number two, Hunter, not only has sausage link digits, but sausage chub feet!

Bathroom Update

So, remember my blue bathroom?  Here's what it looked like after the paint job...
And here it is with a new light fixture and molding around the crusty mirror!
Not quite finished...final pictures are forthcoming.

Maren

Everyone knows I'm addicted to my sisters and I would do anything for them, which is why when something happens and there is nothing I can do it breaks my heart.  Tuesday morning my sister Sarah will walk into Children's National Medical Center with her two year old daughter Maren and hand her to someone, having the faith that the doctors there will be able to fix the heart problem that has plagued Maren since birth.

Sarah's family is my hero.  I walked a similar path that Sarah has and she constantly amazes me with her strength and her faith.  I am honored to be her sister and my prayers and all my faith go out to her and Maren this week.  Sarah, I love you.  Thank you for being such an amazing example to me.  Your McDonald's card is coming :)

Me Me Quite Contrary

What in your garden grows?

Peppers,

pommegranates,

melons and cucumbers all in a row.
